Public parking for $20 per car is available at the Galleria Mall. The Sun Trolley’s Beach Link trolleys will be running from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from Galleria Mall to A1A.  To track the trolley’s in real-time, download the Sun Trolley Tracker App on your smartphone. The app will indicate where the trolleys are located along their routes.

ANTICIPATED ROAD CLOSURES:

To accommodate event set-up and breakdown, intermittently road closures will begin on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. These road closures will reoccur on Friday, May 5, 2017 and Monday, May 8, 2017.

Northbound and southbound State Road A1A will be closed for thru traffic from the north side of Sunrise Blvd intersection to Northeast 14th Court of A1A on Saturday, May 6, 2017 and Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

RIVERWALK WATER TROLLEY:

Water Trolley service will not be affected.  This service will operate as scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

BEACH LINK:

Road closures will not affect the Beach Link route, but headways will be affected by traffic congestion and as a result, customers will experience longer than usual wait times. We will be providing service as scheduled daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

GALT LINK:

The Galt Link route will be affected by the road closure. Instead of using A1A to reach The Galleria Mall, the trolleys will travel on Oakland Park Blvd to Bayview Drive. As a result, the A1A corridor between Oakland Park Blvd and Sunrise Blvd will not receive Sun Trolley service. This modification will especially affect our regular Sun Trolley customers residing along NE 33rd Avenue, as well as the guests of Pelican Grand Beach Resort. The Galt Link service will operate during its normal days/times on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

PARKING

Ford Lauderdale Air Show parking is available for pre-purchase in The Galleria Mall parking garage for $20 each day. Enter The Galleria Mall from east or westbound Sunrise Boulevard using Bayview Drive (NE 24 Avenue). Follow Bayview Drive south to NE 9 Street. Follow NE 9 Street east to the garage entrance. Garage opens at 8 a.m. and a courtesy shuttle will be available for handicapped guests to and from The Galleria Mall and Birch State Park.

Sun Trolley to Host A Transportation Celebration Event to Celebrate 25 Years of Service in Fort Lauderdale

The Sun Trolley, known for its quaint red and yellow trolleys that have been transporting locals and tourists alike and have become a staple in the greater Fort Lauderdale community, will celebrate its silver anniversary this September. To kick off the 25th anniversary celebration, the Sun Trolley is hosting “A Transportation Celebration” on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum (1527 SW 1st Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315).

“We wanted to do something special for the 25th Anniversary of the Sun Trolley and for us this meant celebrating together with the community and continuing a discussion about what transportation is going to look like in Fort Lauderdale for the next 25 years.” says Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale TMA Robyn Chiarelli.

This ‘Hip to Jive’ event at the Antique Car Museum promises to take participants back to the Roaring 20’s. With Great Gatsby-themed décor, the event will feature light fare, drinks, a swing band with flapper dancers, and remarks from community leaders and elected officials. The event will focus on celebrating past accomplishments and embracing the future of transportation and economic growth in Broward County.

“Serving more than 450,000 residents and tourists each year, the Sun Trolley and Riverwalk Water Trolley are integral components of the City’s multi modal transportation network. As the landscape of our transportation system continues to expand and evolve, it’s important that we come together as a community to continue the dialogue and share ideas,” said Chiarelli.

Tickets are on sale now for $25 and will increase to $35 if purchased after 11:55 p.m. on September 15, 2016. Visit http://bit.ly/celebrate25yrs to purchase tickets. “Our guests are our greatest asset and we want to show them our appreciation this summer by offering fun surprises,” said Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale TMA Robyn Chiarelli.   Once on-board, our drivers provide passengers with various items from umbrellas, to cargo bags, reusable eco water bottles and many other gifts to simply make the journey even more enjoyable.”

The free Galt Link trolleys transport residents and tourists alike who are looking for transportation alternatives with a charming twist.
