Sun Trolley Launches Summer Promotion Free Give-a-Ways on the Sun Trolley’s Galt Link

In December 2015, the Sun Trolley’s Galt Link expanded service to the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Serving thousands of residents and tourists each month, the Sun Trolley’s Galt Link is rewarding its passengers with free give-a-ways.

“Our guests are our greatest asset and we want to show them our appreciation this summer by offering fun surprises,” said Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale TMA Robyn Chiarelli.   Once on-board, our drivers provide passengers with various items from umbrellas, to cargo bags, reusable eco water bottles and many other gifts to simply make the journey even more enjoyable.”

Sun Trolley’s summer promotion runs now through September 30, 2016. Give-a-ways are limited to one gift per passenger.

The free Galt Link trolleys transport residents and tourists alike who are looking for transportation alternatives with a charming twist. The route starts at the Galleria Mall and travels northbound to Washington Avenue in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea hitting key destinations such as the Coral Ridge Mall and the Anglin Fishing Pier. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“We are just so pleased to partner with the Sun Trolley,” said Vice Mayor Mark Brown, Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. “Not only does the Sun Trolley help us to move people more efficiently, offerings such as the Galt Link promotion better ensure residents and visitors here in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea have a special and fun experience while visiting our beachside town.”

Please note that is $1 per ride or $3 for an all day pass on Sun Trolley’s Beach and Las Olas Links.

Just like hailing a cab, the Sun Trolley is a wave ‘n’ ride service. Just wave to the driver, from any safe location along the route, to signal that you would like to board. When you’re ready to get off, just let the driver know where along the route you would like to be dropped off. Sun Trolley Downtown Link Route to Halt Service on 4/3 at 5 p.m. for 2014 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run

The 29th Annual Fort Lauderdale Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run returns to the streets of downtown Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, April 3. Motorists are encouraged to carefully review the listed road closures and should expect traffic delays from 4:00 P.M. until approximately 11:00 P.M.
PLEASE NOTE: The Sun Trolley will suspend service of its Downtown Link Route at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 to accommodate the race. 
The actual race is tentatively scheduled to begin at 6:45 P.M. Race organizers are expecting approximately 7,000 runners and walkers to participate in this year’s event.

Street Closures and Detours

  • Wednesday, April 2
    • 6:00 P.M. through Thursday, April 3 at 10:00 P.M.: Las Olas Boulevard will be closed between Andrews Avenue and Southeast 1st Avenue.
  • Thursday, April 3
    • 1:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.: Las Olas Boulevard will be closed from Andrews Avenue to Southeast 2nd Avenue. Southeast 1st Avenue will be closed from Southeast 2nd Street to Las Olas Boulevard
    • 4:00 P.M.: Participants start arriving, increasing pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
    • 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.: Street detours and lane closures in place.
    • 6:45 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.: Projected timeframe for actual race.
    • 9:30 P.M.: Roadways, except for Las Olas Boulevard, are projected to re-open and return to normal operations.
    • 11:00 P.M.: Projected time that East Las Olas Boulevard will re-open and be returned to normal operations.
Event organizers have placed message signboards throughout the downtown area providing ample time for motorists to prepare for the above closures.
