Safe Streets Summit – January 26 & 27, 2017

The Safe Streets Summit will be held at the Sunrise Civic Center (10610 West Oakland Park Blvd, Sunrise, FL 33351) on January 26 & 27, 2017.

For the first time, this conference will be a collaborative effort between the Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organizations. This will provide a local yet regionally connected approach to prioritizing Complete Streets throughout Southeast Florida. The Safe Streets Summit brings together national speakers, public officials, technical staff, and community partners to elevate our efforts on how to design safe transportation facilities for all modes of transportation.

In 2017, the theme and focus will be on implementing Complete Streets and highlighting the building blocks and tools for better connected and safer streets for all. We are excited about the topics that will be covered during the summit including equity, evaluation, funding, and implementation of  Complete Streets.

Additionally, the annual Safe Streets Awards will be expanded to Miami-Dade and Palm Beach areas. There are plenty of opportunities to showcase your work and connect with hundreds of participants by becoming a Safe Streets Summit sponsor. Planners, you will also have the opportunity to earn AICP CM credits as you connect and learn from Complete Streets local and national leaders.

Sun Trolley Provides Free Transportation For Fort Lauderdale’s Artwalks and Food in Motion Street Festival

Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 25, 2017) – Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s cultural scene is exploding and the Sun Trolley is proud to help you get there! On the last Saturday of every month (with the exception of December), thousands of art-enthusiasts flock to the FATVillage, MASS District and Fort Lauderdale Artwalks.

“Partnering with the Sun Trolley for charter services has helped with both traffic and congestion during the Artwalk,” said Doug McCraw, Founder of FATVillage Arts District. “Many attending the Artwalk use the Sun Trolley. They can hop on in many different locations in Flagler Village. With the limited parking capacity in the Artwalk districts, the Sun Trolley takes advantage of off-site parking, which greatly helps our attendance numbers.”

On Artwalk nights, the Sun Trolley service is free and runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Attendees can easily catch a ride with the Sun Trolley from the Searstown parking lot, located at 498 NE 9th Street, in Fort Lauderdale (behind Radioactive Records). There, parking is ample and free. CLICK HERE to view the route.

“The Sun Trolley assists the Fort Lauderdale Artwalk by connecting it with the neighboring FATVillage & MASS District Artwalks, and working to grow the Artwalk in the Historic Sistrunk corridor, ultimately making our neighborhood and city better connected,” said Dylan Lagi, Executive Director of MASS District.

Another event gaining popularity is the Food in Motion food truck event. This event occurs on the second Friday of every month in Peter Feldman Park (310 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale). Food in Motion features nearly 30 different food trucks, live-music, craft booths and more. Similar to the service being provided for the Artwalks, the free Sun Trolley runs to and from the parking lot behind Searstown.

“This year, the Sun Trolley is celebrating its 25th anniversary,” said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale TMA. “One of our goals is to continue forming strategic partnerships, like we have with the area Artwalks. These partnerships ultimately help us better serve our community by transporting more neighbors and tourists to where they want to go.”

The Sun Trolley operates eight routes in greater Fort Lauderdale including the free Riverwalk Water Trolley. To track the trolleys in real-time download the free Sun Trolley Tracker App. To learn more visit http://www.suntrolley.com/ or call 954-TROLLEY. Like what Sun Trolley is doing?
