Starlight Musicals kicks off tomorrow, June 19, with Jimmy Stowe & The Stowaways! Each summer, the City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department proudly presents the Starlight Musicals concert series sponsored by Bank of America.
For 37 years, these free outdoor concerts have provided a great way to enjoy the summer with family and friends. The series features an exciting line up of bands and takes place on Fridays from 7 to 10 p.m. on the football field at Holiday Park, located at East Sunrise Boulevard and Federal Highway. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and coolers.

Sun Trolley Extends Hours for 4th of July

Sun Trolley Extends Hours for 4th of July The Sun Trolley will be extending service for the Independence Day Holiday on the Beach and Las Olas Link routes. Service extensions will be as follows:

  • Friday, July 3, 2015: Las Olas and Beach Link Service Only from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 4, 2015: Las Olas Link and Beach Link Service 9:30 a.m. to 12 Midnight.

The Airport Link Route will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as scheduled. The Riverwalk Water Trolley will maintain regular hours of operation on July 3 and 4, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m Also, at 9 p.m. all eyes will turn toward the sky for the City’s spectacular 30-minute fireworks show! Sun Trolley Transports You to Food in Motion – Tonight!

The Fort Lauderdale Community Redevelopment Agency is hosting Food in Motion – an after dark green market and artisan food event, and the Sun Trolley will be providing the transportation. The event, which is held every second Friday of the month, features:

  • An Artisan Food Market with fresh produce, food trucks, vegan options, gourmet baked goods, locally made products and more!
  • Flagler Village Farm with fresh-picked organic produce plus opportunities to meet local farmers and learn about urban farming in Fort Lauderdale
  • Night in the Park with free beer for guests 21 and older, picnic in the park and an open playground for kids.

When: Friday, June 12th from 5 to 11 p.m.

Where: Peter Feldman Park, 310 NE 6th Street Fort Lauderdale, Fl. 33301

The event also includes FREE admission and FREE parking, at lot on NE 5th Ave and NE 9th Street behind Sears Town Plaza, plus a FREE shuttle service provided by the Sun Trolley from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Save the Date for a Family Fun Ride and a Moonlight Movie

Join the City of Fort Lauderdale for a Family Fun Ride and Moonlight Movie in the Park.

When: Saturday, June 13, 2015, 5 p.m.

Where: Joseph C. Carter Park, 1450 W. Sunrise Boulevard

Bring your family, friends, bikes, picnic baskets, chairs, and blankets to Joseph C. Carter Park  for a night of outdoor activity and fun at the second Family Fun Ride & Moonlight Movie in the Park.

Fun Ride Highlights Include:

  • A casual 5-mile bike ride from Carter Park through the surrounding neighborhood led by Fort Lauderdale Police officers (Helmets are required for participants 16 years and younger, but everyone is encouraged to wear one for safety.)
  • Disney’s family-friendly movie Big Hero 6
  • Free bicycle registration and helmet fittings
  • Bike Safety Checkpoint, Bike Rodeo, safety activities, free bicycle and helmet raffle, & kids games
  • Play softball with Fort Lauderdale police officers during the Softball 911community softball game (Pre-registration is required. Call 954-20 0-1303 or email rosebelly63@yahoo.com to sign up.)
  • Free hot dogs, hamburgers, shaved ice, and popcorn
