Passengers can Wave N’ Ride anywhere along the two routes to travel to and from Calvary Chapel, the Cypress Creek Tri-Rail Station, the Citrix Loop, Kaplan University, the Radice Corporate Park, and lunch spots in the area. The vehicles are comfortably air-conditioned, offer bike racks, and are wheelchair accessible.

The free service of the Uptown Link Route is made possible with a grant from the FDOT and in partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale.

 Expanding Our Reach

With this addition, the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association (TMA), which administers the Sun Trolley and Riverwalk Water Trolley, will now serve passengers in the Uptown Business District, located off Cypress Creek Road in Fort Lauderdale. The FREE Uptown Link Route is an easy option for working professionals to get to lunch without the hassle of driving or searching for a parking spot.

“The Sun Trolley is excited for the addition of the Uptown Link Route because it will allow us to provide transportation services in an even larger geographic area,” said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Sun Trolley. “The Uptown Link Route, under the management of the TMA, will offer the same convenient, accessible and reliable service that the Sun Trolley is known for, but to many new passengers who need a convenient way to get to restaurants, shops, school and work in the Uptown Business District.”

Improving Service, Improving Connections

With TMA administering the Uptown Link Route, customers will be able to track the buses on the routes in real time using the FREE Sun Trolley Tracker App, and the vehicles will also be wrapped using the Sun Trolley’s recognizable brand to increase their visibility to potential passengers.

“The Uptown Link bridges the gap between the morning and early evening shuttle services by offering a convenient midday option that gets people to and from the Tri-Rail station, local businesses, schools, and restaurants along the Cypress Creek corridor. The new partnership with TMA further enhances this service through branded, recognizable shuttles, a real time tracker app enabling riders to efficiently plan their trips, and more,” said Diana Alarcon, Director, City of Fort Lauderdale Transportation and Mobility Department. “Cooperative partnerships such as this solidify the City’s commitment to sustainability and mobility by developing a comprehensive multimodal transportation network that accommodates people of all ages and abilities. We’re challenging people to leave their cars at home by offering options that make public transportation a part of their normal everyday routine.”
