Las Olas Blvd. Temporary Road Closure – June 17, 2017

Intersection at E. Las Olas Boulevard and SE 3rd Avenue to Temporarily Close 

June 17, 2017 | 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City of Fort Lauderdale Transportation and Mobility Department, in coordination with the Broward County Traffic Engineering Division, will temporarily close the intersection at E. Las Olas Boulevard and SE 3rd Avenue on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. to touch up the painted intersection. As a result, the SE 3rd Avenue Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic, but will remain accessible to boaters, pedestrians, and bicyclists.  The detours for this closure are as follows:

  • Motorists traveling eastbound on E. Las Olas Boulevard will be detoured north to SE 2 Street via SE 2 Avenue.
  • Motorists traveling westbound on E. Las Olas Boulevard will be detoured north to SE 2 Street via SE 5 Avenue. 
  • Motorists traveling southbound on SE 3rd Avenue will be detoured to S. Andrews Avenue via SE 2 Street.
  • Motorists traveling northbound on SE 3rd Avenue will be detoured to S. Andrews Avenue via SE 6 Street.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid traffic delays in and around the restricted area. Motorists are also reminded to proceed with caution throughout the detour areas to ensure the safety of workers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and other motorists. 

The Las Olas Link will be following designated detours during this time.

 

Las Olas Link Service Advisory: Las Olas Blvd Construction

Construction improvements along Las Olas Boulevard from Isle of Capri Drive west of the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale will begin on June 18, 2017 and will be completed in approximately two months.

Traffic Impact

  • The outside land in each direction of Las Olas Boulevard from Isle of Capri Drive to the Intracoastal Waterway may be closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Specific lane closure information will be provided in the weekly traffic report distributed by FDOT

Please be advised that this construction project will affect our Las Olas Link service. Guests will experience longer than usual delays while the lane closures are taking place.

2017 Great American Beach Party – Sun Trolley Service Hours Extended

Get ready to kick off the summer with live music, vintage cars, unique art, outstanding entertainment, and fun in the sun for everyone!  It’s all happening on Fort Lauderdale Beach at the City’s Great American Beach Party on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at A1A and Las Olas Boulevard.
Take the Sun Trolley!
The Sun Trolley will be picking up event-goers at the City Park Garage, located at 150 S.E. 2nd Street. Drop-off will be at the Las Olas Marina, 240 E. Las Olas Circle. Fares are $1 each way or $3 for an all-day pass. The Sun Trolley will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Track Sun Trolley in real-time by downloading the app to your Android or iPhone.

Ford Lauderdale Air Show 2017 – We Can Take You There!

The Ford Lauderdale Air Show (Saturday, May 6 – Sunday, May 7, 2017) is one of the most anticipated events of the year and the Sun Trolley can get you there! Public parking for $20 per car is available at the Galleria Mall. The Sun Trolley’s Beach Link trolleys will be running from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from Galleria Mall to A1A.  To track the trolley’s in real-time, download the Sun Trolley Tracker App on your smartphone. The app will indicate where the trolleys are located along their routes.

ANTICIPATED ROAD CLOSURES:

To accommodate event set-up and breakdown, intermittently road closures will begin on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. These road closures will reoccur on Friday, May 5, 2017 and Monday, May 8, 2017.

Northbound and southbound State Road A1A will be closed for thru traffic from the north side of Sunrise Blvd intersection to Northeast 14th Court of A1A on Saturday, May 6, 2017 and Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

RIVERWALK WATER TROLLEY:

Water Trolley service will not be affected.  This service will operate as scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

BEACH LINK:

Road closures will not affect the Beach Link route, but headways will be affected by traffic congestion and as a result, customers will experience longer than usual wait times. We will be providing service as scheduled daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

GALT LINK:

The Galt Link route will be affected by the road closure. Instead of using A1A to reach The Galleria Mall, the trolleys will travel on Oakland Park Blvd to Bayview Drive. As a result, the A1A corridor between Oakland Park Blvd and Sunrise Blvd will not receive Sun Trolley service. This modification will especially affect our regular Sun Trolley customers residing along NE 33rd Avenue, as well as the guests of Pelican Grand Beach Resort. The Galt Link service will operate during its normal days/times on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

PARKING

Ford Lauderdale Air Show parking is available for pre-purchase in The Galleria Mall parking garage for $20 each day. Enter The Galleria Mall from east or westbound Sunrise Boulevard using Bayview Drive (NE 24 Avenue). Follow Bayview Drive south to NE 9 Street. Follow NE 9 Street east to the garage entrance. Garage opens at 8 a.m. and a courtesy shuttle will be available for handicapped guests to and from The Galleria Mall and Birch State Park.

Las Olas Link Service Advisory: Fort Lauderdale Color Run

The Color Run Dream Tour returns to the streets for Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Motorists are encouraged to carefully review the listed road closures and should expect traffic delays from 6 a.m. until approximately 12 p.m.

The race is tentatively scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Race organizers are expecting approximately 4,000 runners and walkers to participate in this year’s event.
